Young hockey stars aged 12 from five Eurasian countries will compete in Nur-Sultan (Astana), Kazakhstan, on the “Barys Arena” ice rink in the lead-up to the World Ice Hockey Championship, which the city will host through April 29 — May 5. The UTLC Ice Cup 2019 International Youth Tournament will bring hockey players from five countries together under the Young Eurasian Stars slogan for the first time. “Barys”, the Kazakh home team, will face Slovakian “Slovan”, Belarusian “Minsk Dynamo”, the Chinese “Kunlun Red Star” as well as Russian clubs “SKA” and “Lokomotiv” from Yaroslavl.

The juniors’ tournament is organized by the Joint-stock company United Transport and Logistics Company – Eurasian Rail Alliance (UTLC ERA), the leading operator of rail transit container services on China – Europe – China routes. The UTLC Ice Cup 2019 will be the company's second sports project following the UTLC Cup summer football tournament for the U-14 age group, held annually since 2017 in Moscow.

“Young Eurasian Stars, our big social project, is going in a new, exciting direction, without changing its main goal - the coming together of youths from different nations. Today we support the development of young talented athletes in two athletic disciplines at once: the football tournament in Moscow, and ice hockey tournament in Nur-Sultan (Astana). I am sure that young athletes will compete on a level that will prove to be the envy of professional adult teams,” - said Alexey Grom, UTLC ERA president.

Matches will be played through April 9 – 13 at “Barys Arena”, the tournament expects to welcome several leading players from the Continental Hockey League and ambassadors from participating countries as guests of honor.
