JSC UTLC ERA container traffic in January–September 2019 amounted to 228,363 TEU with 23% growth

Moscow, October 28, 2019 – The container traffic volume en route China – Europe – China with regard to transit services provided by Joint stock company “United Transport and Logistics Company – Eurasian Rail Alliance” (JSC UTLC ERA) over the first three quarters of 2019 amounted to 228,363 TEU, which is 23% growth versus the same period of the last year. The traffic volume en route Europe – China for the first 9 months of 2019 amounted to 94,174 TEU, and en route China – Europe – 134,189 TEU. Therefore, the growth as compared to the same period of 2018 was 24% and 22%, respectively.

The number includes 93,174 TEU shipped in Q3 2019. This is 9% growth vs. the same period of 2018.

Despite the apparent reduction in the economical growth rate of the PRC and EU, the Eurasian railway transit keeps its momentum increasing the shipment traffic. The most dynamic still is the corridor across the territories of Kazakhstan–Russia–Belorussia (JSC UTLC ERA basic services) which contributed its 87% over Q1-Q3 2019.

The shipment traffic performance gradually moves to the phase of organic growth after overcoming the effect of “low base”; therefore, the increment in percentage is going down. For comparison, JSC UTLC shipment traffic in basic services for January–August 2017 amounted to 101.7 thousand TEU.
